Training mums, especially new mums, is often shoved straight in to the pilates-style training category, with little thought on what we are actually training them for. We are scared off by the idea that heavy lifting can cause prolapse, incontinence, and is generally advised against.
However, how does this help a mum lift a 20kg child? Is 20kg even “heavy”? In this session we attempt to sift through the data on heavy lifting for mums, separating fact from fiction, and coming up with a plan that will both avoid lifting-related core injury AND help this mum lift her child.
Presenter: Sally Castell
The session will cover basic information and understanding related to 3 common musculo-skeletal conditions that are present in the older adult population that can put them at a higher risk of sustaining a fall:
Sarcopenia
Arthritis
Osteoporosis (+ Vitamin D link )
This base will allow for a specific exercise prescription be developed according to the condition itself and meets with individuals needs and abilities. It will cover exercise program considerations and practical application guidelines.
Presenter: Nolan Fisher
Details to be announced!
Presenter: Kirsty Nield
Using only one small hand weight, this conditioning session explores the advantages and infinite possibilities of training unilaterally.
