Described as “one of the greatest ultra-endurance athletes of all time”, Richard Thompson is no stranger to pushing the boundaries of what the human body and mind can achieve. Ultraman Triathlon is regarded as the hardest triathlon in the world entailing a 10km swim, 420km of bike riding and finishing with a 82km double marathon.
Married with three kids, Richard walked away from a lucrative and successful career as a lawyer to pursue his passion as a professional Ultra Endurance athlete and has become the Ultraman World Champion and current World Record holder. Next year Richard is taking on Ultraman again, this time with the ambitious goal of taking 90mins off his current world record time! To be the first human to break the elusive 20 hour barrier (www.kangurusub20challenge.com.au). Further to this, a feature length documentary is being made about Richard and his journey due for cinematic release in late 2023.
Richard believes that to achieve one’s best, one should always set themselves an impossible but believable goal. So when Richard isn’t training to compete in gruelling Triathlons, he provides inspiring talks at corporate events as well as individual mentoring to some of Australia’s top business leaders and companies through his own performance coaching business.
A highly intelligent, articulate speaker and driven athlete, coach and businessman, Richard Thompson inspires the everyday person to truly believe that anything is possible.
