A3H: Bending Over Backwards: The Pursuit Of Spinal Extension

More than just a demonstration of total body strength and mobility, the back bridge can also create a powerful counterbalance to the ill effects of daily living. Endless hours of sitting and physical inactivity put our backs in an unnatural state of perpetual flexion – a state that the back bridge effectively remedies. This 100% HIIT class is like nothing your participants have done before. Exploring creative and totally unique ways of using the step, this session gives you inspiration to develop fun and challenging HIIT drills. By jumping over, weaving around, picking up and putting down, this session uses the step as a working platform, an obstacle, and a resistance training tool. Including sections of basic step choreography, this class is designed to keep all your group fitness participants happy. From this masterclass you’ll take home ideas that you can use in any class format. So if you’re ready to mix it up and expand your exercise library then get set for Mindy’s Extreme Exercise Makeover, which will transform these regular exercise staples into hit-a-home-run-gems. You’ll experience at least 10 new ways to breathe new life back into the basics, and how to progress and regress each one, so they apply to all fitness levels. Using no external equipment, this body weight workout demonstrates how a little tweaking can create a workout that is safe and appropriate for the pelvic floor safe. Squats, lunges, push ups and many more conventional exercises can be manipulated with a change in levers, body positions and range of motion, to ensure that your clients get the intensity that they desire, but without compromising the health of their pelvic floor. Between 2012 and 2015, attendance at boutique specialty gyms grew by 70 per cent (IHRSA). Barre studios have contributed to that growth, with rapid uptake to a variety of ballet-inspired programs. This session explores both commercial insight and product knowledge, as you experience the latest Les Mills program, Les Mills Barre. Les Mills Barre is a 30-minute dynamic class that uses body weight exercises and light hand weights, to strengthen, sculpt and tone the entire body. Progressive overload is a concept that is used extensively in resistance training and sports conditioning, and one that can be implemented effectively in group training. Rather than increasing resistance to create overload, this session demonstrates how to use variables to elevate intensity, such as range of motion, compound exercises, and balance. Bringing athletic training with resistance science into the group exercise room in an easy-to-teach-and-perform format, makes this a program one that everyone can use. PMC

Animal Flow includes a range of versatile bodyweight movements that can be incorporated into small or large group training. Using the high intensity interval training approach, Animal Flow movements can be taught in an easy-to-learn sequence that alternates challenging timed intervals with active recovery. You’ll learn Animal Flow movements that can be used in your own small or large group classes, and you’ll explore how to properly sequence the moves to elicit a cardiorespiratory response, while simultaneously encouraging total body mobility.
